Computational Physics, Inc. is an employee-owned corporation. CPI is staffed, managed and operated by scientists with extensive experience in both research and applications. The management team leads a flexible and collaborative corporate culture that maximizes the benefit to the customer of the company's scientific and technical expertise.


   Dr. Steven L. Berg (President and Chief Executive Officer)
Berg Dr. Berg is responsible for corporate operations and strategic direction for CPI. Dr. Berg leads decision making for all aspects of the company's business, including daily operations, business development, marketing strategies and the evolution of the company's technical strategic vision. Dr. Berg is the primary point of contact for clients interested in CPI's services as well as for potential commercial partners.

Lumpe Dr. Lumpe guides CPI's remote sensing business area and manages the company's office in Boulder, Colorado. Dr. Lumpe specializes in satellite remote sensing of the atmosphere, from the upper troposphere through the thermosphere. Dr. Lumpe has participated in several remote sensing programs, including the Polar Ozone and Aerosol Measurement (POAM) solar occultation missions, the Limb Profiler instrument on the NPOESS Ozone Mapping and Profiler Suite (OMPS), the NASA Solar Occultation Satellite Science Team (SOSST), and the Cloud Imaging and Particle Size (CIPS) instrument on AIM, among others. Dr. Lumpe's scientific activities result in regular publication of research results in the peer-reviewed literature.


   Dr. Douglas J. Strickland (Founder, Chairman, and Chief Scientist)
Strickland Dr. Strickland is the founder of CPI and specializes in the physics of the upper atmosphere and ionosphere. Much of his attention in recent years has been directed to satellite far ultraviolet remote sensing pertaining to dayglow and aurora. Related subjects of interest are calibration of space-based sensors for space weather applications and the validation of their remote sensing algorithms. Dr. Strickland provides oversight on the financial health of the company and guides CPI's space weather business area. He continues to remain active in research, publishing research results in the peer-reviewed literature.


   Ms. Marianne Parsons (Director of Finance & Operations)
Parsons Ms. Parsons is responsible for financial planning, budgeting, and accounting for the company. In addition to these duties, Ms. Parsons has oversight of all administrative activities at the company's headquarters and serves as Trustee of the CPI Retirement Plan.


    Mr. Tim Wynne (Controller)
Parsons Mr. Wynne (pronounced "win") is responsible for the financial, accounting and contracts operations for CPI. Tim brings over 25 years of government contracting experience to the company, most notably in automating and improving processes in small and mid-size businesses experiencing significant growth.

Senior Scientist & Marketing Manager
Mr. Poole is responsible for software development strategy, practices, and processes. He has over 20 years of experience in Department of Defense (DoD) and commercial software development projects with a focus on system architecture, development management and technical support. Past work has included supporting satellite ground segment data processing systems and missile defense & phenomenology simulation systems.
Ms. Elliott has over twenty years of experience in software design and development, specializing in modeling and simulation. Expertise includes all phases of software development, including defining software requirements, data analysis, implementation, and integration of complex scientific codes. Ms. Elliott specializes in database design, computer simulation, scene generation, data modeling, distributed systems, and object-oriented technologies.
Dr. Cember has worked in software development and integration for aerospace systems since 1996. His project experience includes MODIS (NASA Earth Science Division), GOES N-Q (NOAA NESDIS), AWIPS (NOAA NWS), Windsat (DoD Naval Research Laboratory) and NPP-NPOESS (DoD, NOAA and NASA). He currently supports the Joint Polar Satellite System (NOAA and NASA). Dr. Cember received his Ph. D. degree in 1988 from the Department of Geological Sciences at Columbia University. He joined the CPI staff in 2002.
Dr. Cornette is responsible for the development of scientific modeling and simulation, including atmospheric propagation, radiative transfer, terrain, cloud, and ocean scene modeling, and related sensor simulations in the ultraviolet, visible, infrared, and passive millimeter regions of the electromagnetic spectrum. With 30+ years of experience in developing Government and international standard models, including having served at the Scientific Advisor for Defense Modeling and Simulation, Dr. Cornette's experience covers a wide range of modeling and simulation areas.
Dr. Rochford has primary responsibility for recruiting new company staff, supporting proposal and bid activities, assisting with business development, and managing the company web site. He has more than 22 years of professional R&D experience that spans a broad range of science disciplines: nuclear physics, oceanography, meteorology, atmospheric science, remote sensing, and synthetic aperture radar.
Mr. Markham is responsible for developing new business opportunities and marketing strategies at CPI, as well as managing the proposal development process. He has more than 25 years of experience in program/project management and 7 years in business development. As part of his job, Mr. Markham also represents the company at various meetings and conferences to communicate with potential clients and partners about CPI's capabilities and services.
Mr. Evans oversees the administration and maintenance of the company's IT infrastructure including Linux-based computer systems and PC networks. He manages planning and implementing major modifications to CPI's corporate IT infrastructure. In addition to IT management, Mr. Evans specializes in space physics, scene generation, and scientific software development.
